EdSoup Doubles Staff to Manage Demand for College Search Advisors
Patent-Pending Matching Service Seeks to Put Students in Charge
SALT LAKE CITY – The post-secondary admissions landscape is seeing dramatic changes as EdSoup.com, a patent-pending matching service for colleges and their prospective students doubled its college search advisor staff during the past 30 days in an effort to keep up with the high demand for its free advisor-based services.
Founded in 2005, EdSoup built CollegeDirectoryNetwork.com – the largest database of post-secondary educational opportunities online – which currently contains over 6,600 colleges, 10,300 campus locations, and 218,000 programs.
As thousands of students used the database each day to find colleges across the country, EdSoup founder and president, Chris Sower, decided that having the largest database of schools on the Internet wasn’t enough.
“We had built the largest database of colleges for students to search, so the logical next step was to create the largest database of students who are actively seeking post-secondary opportunities, for colleges to search,” Sower said.
The EdSoup.com student matching service, was launched in April 2007 and is unique in that every prospective student receives assistance from an experienced college search advisor.
These advisors work within student-set limits, including geography, school type, programs, degrees, and subjects-of-interest to identify colleges that can meet the prospective student’s needs. “The student is in complete control here. They can even control the number of schools they’d like to hear from,” Sower said.
“It’s because of our advisors that the system has become so popular so quickly,” Sower said. “Once people learn that there is a team of people ready to help them find great matching colleges, they rush to sign up. It’s refreshing to cut through the clutter with experienced professionals on your side.”
EdSoup’s message to students is simple – if you want to improve your life through education, we can help you get started. For more information, visit www.edsoup.com. |
